E-learning
London Gifted & Talented
London GT, a provider of interactive education resources, approached Hugo & Cat to produce an online resource to teach the TASC learning framework.
The TASC methodology (Thinking Actively in a Social Context) helps develop thinking and problem-solving skills. Aimed primarily at children aged between 11 and 14 it is designed to encourage learners to think through a problem and to arrive at the best outcome — and understanding why it's the best outcome.
The solution had to capture and entice both learners and teachers, and create collaborative opportunities in the classroom and a trusted platform for independent learners.
Our approach
TASC is a framework rather than a subject, so we devised an idea that could be used by any teacher or learner in any subject. Taking the eight step methodology and analysis of the user group's needs, we conceptualised and built 'e-TASC' - a multimedia experience that users personalise and populate with prescribed and original content. e-TASC provides an interactive learning 'shell' in which to develop lessons and evaluate learning development. With e-TASC users can create content, organise ideas, and evaluate their own work using the TASC methodology. By capturing thoughts, ideas and working processes, the tool helps students and teachers to capture, challenge and evaluate ideas.
The results have been fantastic. The popularity of e-TASC has exceeded expectations. It has been successfully integrated into many UK schools and has attracted attention from a much wider audience than originally intended.
The launch of the e-TASC site by Hugo & Cat sees not only an engaging design, but a full, secure online learning tool. The site is based on Flash Application development, with both online and local network versions.
