Who are we looking for?
We're looking for a keen and enthusiastic mid-weight Interactive Developer/Designer, with a strong emphasis on Flash development.
Ideally you will have at least 2 years of experience in a digital agency or similar environment. You will have developed high-quality, engaging interactive work using Flash and perhaps a smattering of other new-fangled web technologies. You will have a keen and attentive eye for detail and will certainly be no stranger to good design.
Last, but most certainly not least, you'll be a vibrant, fun, and outgoing addition to our team.
The role
Working closely alongside the Design and Rich Media teams, you'll be working on a wide range of digital projects for a diverse selection of clients, including ongoing work for major blue-chips like Nokia and Sony.
In addition to helping maintain our existing portfolio, you will be working on new campaigns and projects for our clients, collaborating and liaising with other teams to assess the technical feasibility of projects and providing genuine creative input before realising them for the web.
You will be expected to keep up with the latest developments from the wonderful world of the web: you'll be eager to experiment with new technologies and help push forward our service offering.
Your skills
We're looking for a strong mix of creative and development skills, and would expect you to be able to tick most or all of these boxes:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience of Flash in a professional environment
- Good knowledge of ActionScript 3, and especially object-oriented programming
- Familiarity with an IDE, eg. FDT, Flash Builder, or FlashDevelop
- Excellent knowledge of Photoshop or Illustrator and the ability to manipulate and extracts assets from these programs
- Experience with Flash Pro CS4/CS5 and the timeline
- Programmatic animation using a tweening library (eg. TweenLite, TweenMax, Tweensy, etc.)
- A great eye for design, animation and motion graphics
- Exposure to 3D technologies in Flash, both native and via a standard library, eg. Away3D or Papervision3D
- A desire to experiment with new and emerging technologies, eg. Unity 3D, WebGL, CSS Animation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to keep a busy workflow organised and efficient
Nice to have
It'd be great, but not essential, if you could boast a few of the following amongst your skills:
- Working knowledge of the whole front-end web stack, ie. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Some experience working with localisation of Flash via XML and configuration of Flash via Flashvars
- Experience of a JavaScript framework, eg. jQuery, MooTools, Prototype.
- Working knowledge of common Flash->JavaScript frameworks - SWFObject and SWFAddress
- Understanding of version control (Subversion)
- Basic understanding of content management systems
- Some experience with AfterEffects
