H&C Publish is our web content management platform. It is flexible, fast and easy to use, and is suitable for small sites as well as large, multilingual web portals and transactional sites.
H&C Publish is a fast and flexible Content Management System (CMS). It is easy to learn and use – simply log in via a web browser and edit content whilst browsing your site. Depending on the type of content you are editing, different editing windows allow you to enter text, apply formatting and select links, images and files. Once you have finished editing, you can preview your content before saving and publishing.
Because all the key design elements are locked into site templates, H&C Publish protects the consistency of your brand. Editors can only modify content, and have no access to design elements such as headers and footers. Built-in styles ensure consistency of presentation throughout your site, allowing editors to focus on creating and implementing high-quality content without the need for technical knowledge.
H&C Publish includes full version management, so you can save different versions of your content and roll back to a previous version at any time. You can see who has edited each version, and when they edited it.
With scheduled publishing you can choose exactly when your content is published or archived, days, weeks or even months in advance. An easy-to-use workflow tool allows content to require approval before it can be published.
Files used on your site are stored in an easy to use media library, where you can upload documents, images, videos, audio and Flash content. You can upload ZIP archives of multiple files, and large image files are automatically converted to the correct sizes and formats required on your site.
H&C Publish does not get in the way of search engine optimisation (SEO). It uses fully search engine friendly URLs and page titles, and your site can utilise all the normal SEO techniques with no technical limitations. You can easily edit page titles and Meta data through the system.
Because content is stored separately from the design and code of the site, it is easy to modify the site design without the need to touch any of the content. It is also easy to reuse the same content on different pages and with different presentations. This means you create a news item once and it appears both on the home page, in the News section, the News archive and as an RSS feed. If you want to edit the story later, you only need to change one version. This principle also allows your site to be easily adapted to mobile browsing devices, using the same content with a different presentation layer.
The flexible nature of H&C Publish means our developers can add layers of code and customised functionality, so there are no limitations on what your site can do. There is full support for the latest technologies like Ajax, and additional software such as CRM, e-commerce or extranet security can easily be integrated. As you would expect, H&C Publish is fully standards-compliant with support for AAA accessibility guidelines. You can run multiple sites on a single installation of the system, and content can be translated and presented in multiple languages.
