A site that unites the
many voices of a national
organisation
www.artsandbusiness.org.uk - Launch the site
Project overview
Arts & Business connects companies and individuals to cultural organisations and provides expertise to empower them to work together and create lasting, successful partnerships.
Having recently launched a new brand and consultancy service, they needed to find a way to communicate effectively with multiple audiences.
The Challenges
Arts & Business is a UK-wide organisation, speaking to both cultural and commercial audiences at local, national and international levels. The challenge for us was to find a way for Arts & Business to provide relevant content in a timely, targeted and engaging way. The site had to speak with one unified voice, despite catering for multiple stakeholders and content contributors from regional and national offices across the country; each of whom wanted to have the option to localise their content.
The site needed to integrate with the existing Arts & Business Customer Relationship Management System, and offer a ‘Members Only’ facility to give added-value to the relationship between the organisation and its paying members.
- Content strategy
- Brand extension
- Integrated e-ticketing purchasing
- Integrated CRM
- Multi-media players
- News portal content management
- Multiple site versions for regional and national offices
“This would have been a tall order for any agency; UK-wide origination, with services for both cultural and commercial sectors, plus information for researchers, academics and the press… it all seemed a bit too much for one site to handle, yet somehow the team at Hugo & Cat managed to find an innovative solution.”

What we did
Following an extensive requirements gathering exercise, we developed a new site architecture and content strategy that allowed all assets and content to be controlled via a single management system used by all central and local offices.
Arts & Business in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland now have the ability to tag all their content so that the site automatically highlights content relevant to their local audience – in effect giving the nations their own websites.
The site showcases over 70 case studies, highlighting best practice examples of cultural partnerships and consultancy projects Arts & Business have delivered. Using search, tagging and filtering, users can dive into specific areas of interest and pull out textual, photographic, podcast and video based content relevant to them.
There is a dedicated area for members to manage their accounts online, fully integrating with the in-house CRM, while e-ticketing offers online payment and purchasing of event tickets for all users.
The site also integrates with the accounting office and hosts an array of content including images, films, podcasts and documents.
